It’s been a while since I wrote a blog. Shame on me! My excuse is that we have been busy with the Christmas and New Year celebrations and time just got away with it all. However, I am now back to blogging and will provide more useful and helpful content.
Some of you may be wondering what happened to my mushroom growing efforts…
With summer here and the temperature increasing, the mushrooms weren’t growing so well anymore. No matter how much spritzing I did, they just could not beat the heat. As soon as a little button popped up from the dirt, it would shrivel up and brown and a sad fate awaited them. I even resorted to moving them from my laundry to another cooler room, but it just didn’t help them survive.
I have not let the temperature beat me and I’m determine to grow more mushrooms this year, starting at late autumn when the temperature is not so up and down.
Anyhow, the box of dirt that I used to grow the mushrooms in have been dumped and used to fill holes in the garden. I really feel that for $20, I would have bought many more mushrooms at the supermarket than growing them in the box this time.
My next project is to grow a vegetable garden. If only I didn’t have to nag my husband endlessly to build a vegetable box in the backyard….
